말레이시아에서 한국산 원단의 위치는 어떻게될까.

나는 현재 말레이시아 쿠알라룸푸르에서,
한국산 원단을 도매유통하는 회사 SSH TEXTILE 에서 일하고 있다.

'SSH TEXTILE'은 말레이시아의 수도 쿠알라룸푸르에서 주로 한국산원단을 취급하는 도매업체로 3대째 가업을 이어가고 있는 꽤 역사가 긴 회사이다. 

주요 취급품목은 무슬림의류 제작에 사용되는 원단이며, 최근에는 스포츠의류 원단, 기능성 원단까지도 폭을 넓혀가고 있다.

2024년 기준 말레이시아 및 동남아권에서는 대한민국의 문화컨텐츠를 중심으로 국가이미지와 공산품의 호감도가 지속적으로 높아져가고 있다. 한국 제품의 품질 우수성과 국가브랜드 이미지가 합쳐져 좋은 인식을 받고 있는 실정이다.


겉으로는 잘 알 수 없는 미미한 차이, 한국산의 또 다른 강점은 무엇인가?!

현재 말레이시아에 유통되는 대다수의 원단의 출처는 중국이다.
세계의 공장이라 불리던 중국의 제조기술 또한 많은 성장을 이룬것이 사실이고, 눈으로 보아서는 명품과도 큰 차이를 알 수 없을 정도로 정교해졌다.

그럼에도 불구하고, 중국산과 비교해 한국이나 일본의 상품에 대한 인식이 더 좋은 이유는 분명 존재한다. 한국산의 경우 제조공장이 한국내에 있는 한 한국정부기관의 절차를 준수해야하고 이를 국내에 유통하기 위해서는 여러과정의 인증절차를 필요로한다. 

한국내 대부분의 공장들은 국내/외 유통을 모두하고 있으므로, 위의 내용을 준수한 상품을 제조유통하여야 한다. 이 내용 중에는 유해한 화학물질 사용에 대한 규제, 원산지 표시제 등을 예로 들 수 있겠다. 특히 유아용의류나 유아용완구류 등에 사용되는 원단인 경우 KC 적합판정 또한 필요하다.

중국산원단도 눈으로보면 똑같다고 할 수 있을 정도로 품질이 우수해졌다.
그러나 먹는 음식에 조차 출처를 알 수 없는 수많은 화학제품을 사용하는데, 눈에 보이지 않는 원단에 들어가는 재료들은 어떻게 같을 수 있을까.

최소한 한국은 이러한 QC가 상당부분 자리가 이미 잡혀있다.
필요한 경우 기능성원사의 인증서, 원단자체의 인증서나 검사서도 발급받을 수 있다. 더욱 신뢰할 수 있는 제품이라는 것.
